PRP or platelet rich plasma is a procedure in which growth factors are extracted from blood of the patient. The growth factors promote the growth and thickness of existing hair. A very popular procedure in hair regrowth treatment, PRP is difficult to make unless correctly done. Many clinics often offer cheap low quality PRP, which doesn't give result. Dr Akshay offers PRP with well studied protocols, to give maximum yield. He uses double spin ACD gel free tube method with 4 tubes to generate high quality PRP, as opposed to single spin ACD gel method with 2 tubes which many clinics offer.
PRP involves following 3 steps:
1. Seperation: Blood is seperated into 4 parts - plasma, platelets, buffy coat and red cells. First two are seperated from other two. Gel tubes which are frequently used in many clinics, lead to a loss of lot of large growth factor rich platelets.
2. Concentration: The platelet and plasma are concentrated to give a highly concentrated mix of platelets, called PRP. Many clinics skip this step, giving a very poor quality low concentration PRP.
3. Activation: The PRP is either activated or not depending on patient profile, Activated PRP is avoided in active hair fall where non activated is preferred. Activated gives a faster quicker effect while non activated gives a slow sustained effect.Dr Akshay has an advanced machine called Sonicator which give 4 times more growth factors than regular PRP.
